One-of-a-kind knife crafting tour

At a blacksmith shop with a history of over 100 years, you will create a one-of-a-kind kitchen knife with your name engraved on it. You will learn the entire process from forging to sharpening from a craftsman. While riding a bicycle through the streets of Tsubame-Sanjo, the tour guide will take you to local spots where you can meet local people.

Period: MAR-Mid December.
Participation Fee: 65,000 JPY/Person (for a party of 2 participants) *For a single participant, the fee will be 100,000 JPY/Person. The time required: 7.5 hours (excluding pick-up and drop-off times) Capacity: 1 couple per day (maximum 2 people) Age: 18 years old and up

One-of-a-kind frying pan crafting tour

At a blacksmithing shop with 150-year history, you can make your original frying pan out of a piece of iron plate. The entire process, from forging to attaching the handle, is completed by hand with great care. The tour guide will take you on a bicycle ride around the town, Tsubame-Sanjo and show you local spots where you can meet the locals.

For safety reasons during the manufacturing experience at the factory, please refrain from wearing shorts and sandals.

Q. How can I book the tour?

Please apply for your desired tour using the booking form on our website.
Q. Where is the meeting point on the day of the tour?

For those coming by public transportation such as the Joetsu Shinkansen, the meeting point is in front of the Joetsu Shinkansen ticket gate on the 2nd floor of JR Tsubame-Sanjo Station. For those coming by car, please come directly to the KRaft Kura Gallery (1-16-22 Nishiyokkamachi, Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture). Please check the itinerary of each tour for the meeting time.
Q. Is there parking available?

Yes. There is parking space available in front of KRaft Kura Gallery.
Q. Will the tour be conducted in bad weather conditions?

All tours will proceed as scheduled, either it’s rainy or sunny. We provide rain suits if the weather is bad. However, depending on the precipitation, transportation to the factories may be switched from bicycles to taxis. We will inform you in advance if this change occurs.

Q. Can I participate alone?

Solo participants are more than welcome.
Q. Can a large group participate in the tour?

Due to the nature of our tours, they are designed for small groups. We do not accept large group reservations. Please check the maximum number of participants for each tour when booking.
Q. What should I wear for the tour?

For safety during the crafting workshop, please avoid wearing shorts and sandals. We recommend wearing clothes that can get dirty and bringing change of clothes. Dress comfortably for cycling, considering the season.
Q. Can I leave my luggage during the tour?

Yes, you can leave your luggage at the KRaft Kura Gallery.
Q. Can I participate if I cannot ride a bicycle?

For safety reasons, we cannot accept participants who cannot ride a bicycle. Before the tour begins, we will check if you can ride a bicycle on your own. If we determine that you cannot participate based on this check, the cancellation will be considered at your own convenience.
Q. Can I accompany the tour without participating in the manufacturing experience?

Generally, all participants are expected to join the manufacturing experience. However, if you have special circumstances, please consult us when making your reservation.
Q. Are there any age restrictions?

Yes, there are age restrictions due to the nature of our tours. Please check the age restrictions for each tour.
Q. Can I take the crafts that I made to home on that day?

Yes, you can.
